Ingredients
Greek Turkey Burger
- 1 lb uncooked lean ground turkey
- 1/4 cup crumbled reduced fat feta (be sure its crumbled well)
- 1/4 cup minced roasted red peppers (from a jar, packed in water)
- 1/2 medium grated yellow or white onion see notes
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp fresh cracked pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking, do not mix into the meat)
Greek Sauce
- 1/4 cup light sour cream
- 1 tbsp crumbled reduced fat feta cheese
- 1/4 tsp EACH dried dill, dried oregano, and garlic powder
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp olive oil
- salt and pepper to taste
Direction
- Mince roasted red peppers. Fold a piece of a paper towel and set them on there for a few minutes to soak up extra water. If you don’t do this it can add extra water content to the burgers and they can fall apart.
- In a small bowl add all the ingredients for the greek sauce together. Whisk together well, cover, and place in the fridge until it’s time to use.
- In a bowl add: turkey, grated onion, feta, minced roasted bell peppers, oregano, garlic powder, paprika, and salt. Mix together until the ingredients are incorporated well.
- Shape into 4 very thin patties. The thinner the patties are the less they will puff up while cooking in the pan.
- In a large pan over medium high heat add oil and let it heat for a minute or two. Gently place each turkey burger and cook for 6-7 minutes and golden brown then flip and cook for 6-7 minutes more or until internal temp reaches 165 degrees.
- When the burgers are finished cooking add each burger onto a bun or lettuce wrap then add a heaping tablespoon of sauce onto each burger, add desired toppings such as cucumber, lettuce, red onion, and/or tomato. Enjoy!
