- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1/4 cup brewed coffee (strong)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Heat milk in a saucepan until steaming. Remove from heat.
- Whisk egg yolks with sugar until smooth and thick.
- Gradually whisk hot milk into the egg mixture.
- Return to saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Stir in brewed coffee and vanilla extract.
- Strain, let cool, and refrigerate.
