Ingredients
- 1 box of chocolate cake mix
- 1 can of cherry pie filling
- 2 cups of heavy cream
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
- Optional: 1/4 cup of cherry brandy
Direction
- Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix box.
- Prepare the cake batter according to the instructions on the box.
- Grease and flour your baking pan or line your cake pans with parchment paper.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for the recommended time.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the whipped cream by whipping the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form.
- Once the cakes are fully baked, allow them to cool completely.
- If desired, brush the cake layers with cherry brandy for extra flavor.
- Spread a layer of cherry pie filling on the bottom cake layer, then top with a generous amount of whipped cream.
- Place the second cake layer on top and repeat the cherry and whipped cream layers.
- Finish by frosting the entire cake with whipped cream and decorating as desired.
- Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
