Ingredients
For the dough
- 3 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp dry yeast (or 1 oz fresh yeast)
- 1⁄2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1⁄3 cup olive oil
- 1 cup water
For the sauce
- 10-12 oz canned plum tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 garlic (minced)
- 2 Tbsp fresh basil (chopped)
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
Toppings
- 1⁄4 cup green bell peppers (diced)
- 1⁄4 cup tomatoes (diced)
- 1⁄4 cup onions (diced)
- 3 kalamata olives (sliced)
- 4 green olives (sliced)
- 1-2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup feta cheese
Instruction
To make the dough
- Transfer the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt into the bowl of an electric mixer. Combine with a spoon.
- Add the olive oil and mix for a few seconds using a spoon.
- Run the mixer (dough hook attached) at low speed for 5 minutes while adding water little by little. Knead until the dough forms a smooth elastic ball without being too sticky.
- Remove the dough into a bowl, cover, and set aside at a warm spot for an hour to rise.
To prepare the sauce
- Place a small saucepan on medium-low heat.
- Drizzle the oil and let it heat for a few seconds.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 15-30 seconds until golden.
- Add the tomatoes, chopped basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Stir and mash the tomatoes at regular intervals.
- Remove into a bowl to cool. If the sauce looks too mushy, blend it into a smooth sauce-like consistency.
To assemble the pizza
- Preheat the oven to 350° F.
- Brush a shallow round pan (14-inches size) with olive oil.
- Transfer the leavened dough to the pan and spread it out evenly to cover the entire pan. Make minor dents using your knuckles. Brush the top of the crust with olive oil.
- Spread a thin layer of the prepared sauce.
- Evenly distribute the diced bell pepper, onion, and tomatoes without overlapping.
- Drizzle some olive oil on top.
- Place the pan in the low rack of the preheated oven. Bake for 40-50 minutes at 350° F.
- After removing the pizza from the oven, top it with black & green olive slices and crumbled feta cheese. Cut it into 8 slices and enjoy!
