Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon canola oil or avocado oil
- 1 large red onion, peeled and sliced into rounds
- 4 hamburger buns*
Instruction
- Heat a cast-iron skillet or another large skillet over a grill set to medium-high heat. You can make this on the stovetop as well, use a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Combine the turkey, egg, chopped parsley, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl. Stir till the ingredients are combined.
- Form four equal-sized patties with the meat mixture.
- Once the skillet is hot, spray some cooking spray (avocado or other neutral oil) into the skillet. Carefully place the turkey burger patties into the skillet. Allow the burgers to cook for 3 minutes. Flip the patties and use a spatula to press the patties down to smash them. Allow them to cook for another 2 to 3 minutes or until they’ve reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer.
- While the burgers are cooking, place the red onions directly on the grill grates on in a grill pan on the stovetop over medium-high heat. Allow them to cook for 3 minutes on each side until they are tender and have grill lines.
- To assemble the burgers, place them on a bun or in a lettuce wrap, top with optional sauces, red onion, and any optional toppings like sliced tomato, lettuce, and cheese.
- Serve immediately.
